Title: "The Evolutionary Stability of Payoff-Maximising and Team-Reasoning Heuristics"

Abstract: The paper develops an heuristic-based approach to evolutionary game theory. I study within this framework the evolutionary stability of payoff-maximising behaviours and team reasoning, under the assumption of perfect observability of players' types. I introduce the psi-core as the set of payoffs such that any group of players achieve at least what they would obtain if they had a first-mover advantage, and show that payoff-maximising behaviours are evolutionary stable if and only if the resulting Nash payoff belongs to the psi-core. I show moreover that a specific class of heuristics, interpretable as a form of team-reasoning, systematically outperforms payoff-maximising heuristics.
